Help: Install Selection
100
EASY INSTALLATION
To initiate Easy Install,
click EASY on the Install
dialog box, then click on the
Done button.
The Easy Install option will
inspect your system and
automatically select the hard
drive in your computer with
the largest amount of free
disk space. INSTALL will then
perform a MEDIUM installation
(requiring 8MB free disk
space) if there is 8MB or
more of free space; otherwise
it will default to the
MINIMUM installation
(requiring 4MB free disk
space.) This is the easiest
installation method, however
game play may be slower if
only a minimum installation
is possible as the game will
have to read more frequently
from the Orion Burger CD.
ADVANCED INSTALLATION
To initiate Advanced Install,
click ADVANCED on the Install
dialog box, then click on the
Done button.
The Advanced Install option
allows you to customize
installation of Orion Burger.
You may specify where the
game will be installed (drive
and directory) and the amount
of data that will be
transferred from the CD to
your hard drive. Advanced
Install allows you to
configure your music and
digital sound card manually,
and there is also an option
for automatic sound and
speech card configuration.
If you are unfamiliar with
your computer, select Easy
Install for quick, one-step
installation.

information about the hard
disks connected to your
computer and how much free
space is available on each.

directory other than the
default as indicated on the
Advanced Install Menu, click
on the Browse button beside
the directory display window.
To install the game on a hard
drive other than the default
as indicated in the Drive
display window, click on the
Browse button beside the
Drive display window, then
select the directory of your
choice.
To change the size of the
installation, click either
the MINIMUM, MEDIUM or
MAXIMUM button, then click on
Done.

#SIZE
Help: Install Size
100
You may select one of three
install sizes: MINIMUM,
MEDIUM or MAXIMUM. These size
specifications refer to the
amount of data that will be
transferred from the CD to
your hard drive. The size of
installation that you select
will determine the
performance of Orion Burger
when you play the game.
For optimum performance
during game play, install the
largest size available to
you. (If you do not have
adequate free space for a
given install size, its
button will be rendered
inactive.)
Free disk space required for
each installation:
MINIMUM: 4 Megabytes
MEDIUM: 8 Megbytes
MAXIMUM: 120 Megabytes
MINIMUM install transfers the
least amount of data from the
CD to your hard drive, but
game performance will be slow
as your computer will be
required to read from the
Orion Burger CD frequently.
If your computer has enough
hard drive space, it is
recommended that you select
MAXIMUM installation. This
will copy the entire Orion
Burger CD to your hard drive
and increase game performance
dramatically.

#DRIVE
Help: Drive Selection
100
To specify the destination
drive to which Orion Burger
will be installed, click on
the Browse button beside the
hard drive display window.
Use the scroll bars to view
the hard drives available to
you and click on your
selected drive to highlight
it. When finished, click on
Done.
Once your drive selection has
been made, Install will
search for two directories on
your system:
\GAMES or:
\GAME
If neither directory is
found, Orion Burger will be
installed into a directory
named \BURGER, off the root
directory.
!
#DIR
Help: Directory Browser
100

directory to which Orion
Burger will be installed,
click on the BROWSE button
beside the directory display
window. Use the scroll bars

the selected hard drive and
click on the selected
directory to highlight it.
When finished, click on DONE.

Certain PC configurations may
cause problems when you try
to run Orion Burger. Please
read the list below and
follow the instructions that
apply to your system
configuration.
RUNNING ORION BURGER UNDER
WINDOWS 95
Orion Burger has been tested
and will run under Windows 95
using one the following two
methods:
METHOD 1:
Restart your computer and
press F8 [function 8] as
Windows 95 is starting up.
Next, select "previous
version of MS-DOS" from the
Windows 95 startup menu. When
you arrive at the C:\ prompt,
follow the installation and
game playing instructions as
outlined in the Orion Burger
Users Guide. NOTE: This
method is preferred. Orion
Burger was designed to run on
your previous version of
MS-DOS.
METHOD 2:
Allow Windows 95 to start
completely, then select
"shutdown" from the "start"
menu. On the "shutdown" menu,
click on "restart the
computer in MS-DOS mode."
When you arrive at the C:\
prompt, follow the
installation and game playing
instructions normally as
outlined in Orion Burger
Users Guide.
NOTE: While Orion Burger
will run using this method,
you are encouraged to try
Method 1 before trying this
method. If you do choose to
use this method, save your
game frequently.
NOTE: Windows 95 controls
system configuration. Should
you encounter any errors,
such as a missing VESA driver
or a missing CD ROM driver,
consult your Windows 95
documentation.
MEMORY REQUIREMENTS FOR
ORION BURGER
Orion Burger requires
at least 6800k of free
extended memory. You can
check the amount of free
memory by using the MEM
command at the C:\ prompt:
MEM [ENTER]
Under the "Memory Type"
heading, find the
"Extended (XMS)"
line and follow it across to
the right hand side under the
"Free" column. You should see
at least 6800k or more. If
you have less than 6800k
free, remove any RAM disks
that may be running and make
sure that SmartDrive has been
disabled following the
instructions below.
SYSTEMS WITH 8 MEGABYTES OF
RAM USING SMARTDRIVE
(or other disk cache utility)
Orion Burger will not
function properly if you are
using SmartDrive or any other
disk cache utility. In order
to run Orion Burger, you must
remove the line:
c:\dos\smartdrv.exe
by using a REM statement to
disable it as follows:
REM c:\dos\smartdrv.exe
If you wish to re-enable
SmartDrive after you have
finished playing Orion
Burger, simply remove the REM
statement at the beginning of
the line.
If your computer uses a disk
caching utility other than
SmartDrive, you will need to
consult the utility's
documentation to determine
how to remove the utility
from your system.
DETECTING SOUND CARDS
INSTALL will attempt to
detect the settings of your
sound card if you have
specified which sound card is
installed in your system. The
detect feature can also be
selected manually by clicking
the Detect Settings button.
Some computer configurations
may cause the detection
routines in INSTALL to
'freeze' or 'hang' your
computer or cause your
computer to reboot. If you
experience any of these
problems, run SETUP with the
-n parameter from the BURGER
directory:
SETUP -n [ENTER]
This will disable sound card
detection, and you will need
to enter your sound card's
settings manually in SETUP.
For more information on these
settings, refer to your sound
card documentation.
ADLIB MSC16 SOUND CARDS
If you have an Adlib MSC16
sound card installed in your
system, you will need to
select "Sound Blaster 8" on
all of the sound card setup
menus and manually set the
sound card port in INSTALL.
Also, once you have exited
the game and returned to DOS,
you will need to manually
reset your sound card.
Failure to do so may cause
your computer to 'freeze' or
'hang' the next time you
attempt to run any
application. To reset your
MSC16 card, type:
M16INIT /b [ENTER]
at the DOS prompt.
You may also restart your
computer to reset the sound
card.
REVEAL SOUNDFX WAVE 32 SOUND CARDS
If you have a Reveal SoundFX
Wave 32 card installed in
your system, you will need to
select "Soundscape" for the
digital sound setup options
in INSTALL.
